I love this forum! I have the same problem. I will be looking at the tie-rod ends. Glad this post came up. I was thinking about buying new Struts. That saved me a ton of money.

Thanks

i did have an issue with tokico struts on another car i did. had two sets blow out the seals in just a few months. the company did nothing for me so i told them to insert said product you know where and switched to KYBs and never had a problem. they ended up being more money but also a better performing strut in my opinion.

Naw, it only makes the noise when I hit pretty much any bump now, regardless whether or not I turn the wheel. If I'm sitting still and rotate the wheel it won't make the noise.

How about taking it to the dealership? Kinda my last resort.

The upper strut mounts are "one time use" parts. did you replace the upper strut mounts when you replaced the struts/shocks? If not, you need to get some aftermarket (Steeda HD) upper strut mounts.

I tried to "adjust" my stock swaybar mounts and got the clunking issue that seems to affect all S197's. Just a 1/4' tighten turn of the mount bolt on the strut fixed it. I think it's a manufacturer defect but who knows...

Mine did they same thing. I put a CHE front K-member brace on it and it fixed it. The front brace is standard on the convertibles, but not on the coupes. OH, hi Hammy!

Then explainhow mine ended up from the factory with one?

Ditto. Stick to your plan first of replacing your bolts and that should work. If you find it progressively happening all over again, I'd swap the mounts also.

Took a look at it today, the top bolt of my driver side stabilizer bar link is bent down. Anyone know where I can get a replacement?

If that doesn't fix it. You could also try the new upper mounts that fixed everybodys
"front end thunk". Part # 8R3Z 18183 B. TSB 07-18-02.
