Default How do I do a GT spoiler delete?

I searched some posts on this site and saw some wicked lookin' GT's without the standard spoiler.

However, nobody had any instructions on how to do it (even though some did do it by themselves.)

If I didn't wanna pay a bodyshop, how would I go about this? And how would I fill the holes that it leaves behind? Any instruction, or a link would be appreciated. Thanks!

Find someone who has the same color stang without the spoiler
such as a V6 owner who wants a Gt spoiler and trade with them?

It's easy to remove the spoiler, there are 2 bolts on each side that you can get to from the trunk. With those removed go to work on the tape that's holding it on, fishing string works well, just saw it off. They sell plugs that you can use, I took some flat head bolts and sprayed them black and put them on.

you parts store can get you plastic push pins to plug the holes for a low buck option. otherwise ur welding the holes closed and repainting.

Cool, the plastic push pins sound like a good idea I'll probably end up doing that. Also the bolts sound like a good idea too. Didn't realize the holes would be that small, but now I think about it it obvioulsy makes sense.

Thanks for the pic 157db... I don't get the tape though? Are you doin that so the holes come out clearer in the picture?

Do it correctly. Buy the trunk lid from Ford and have it painted.

I ordered a spoiler delete so I agree with you! You'd probably be happier, like black s197 suggests, to find a delete hood. (New/used/trade). The painting won't be that expensive because the shop can just put it in the booth by itself.

I would just order a trunk from Ford and have it painted. I know you said you didn't want to do it, but that or have a body shop plug the holes and re-paint your trunk. That's really the only way you're going to have a professional looking job.

If you haven't bought it yet, you can find GTs with the spoiler delete option from the factory.

I got my spoiler delete for free from the factory. I knew I was going to install a CDC ducktail so I ordered it from the factory without the wing. I think you should have it done right and get a trunk lid without holes and have it painted. But to test out how you like the look you could use the plugs to see if you want to spend the money for a new one.

Hmmm all good advice, though now I'm a bit conflicted. Anyone have any idea how much the trunk lid option/painting/installing will cost all together? I realize its a $0 dollar option from the factory but I've already bought my car, haha...
