sct tuner question
can you actually bump up the rev limiter, with the tune i have now it redlinesat 6500 rpm but i think i would like 7,000. can i do this myself with my tuner? if so is there a reason i shouldnt go that high? has anyone done it them selves?

RE: sct tuner question
thanks for the quick answers , i figured 7000rpm would be bad, but what are the reasons? i probably wont do it but i am curious as to what might happen. anyone else runnin more then 6500rpm?

RE: sct tuner question
I have my in gear limiter set at 7200 rpm and the out of gear limiter at 6800 rpm.
Why? Because the PCM starts to close the TB 400 rpm short of the RPM Limit.
I have just got the SCT so I am still experimenting. But so far the car is reacting to shifts just the way
the math told me it would. I am a little to much of a chicken to push shifts past 6750-6800 rpm.
Im making the 1-2 shift at 6750 rpm because the gap between these gears is so large.
A 6750 rpm shift puts you at 4000 rpm after the shift.
Im making the 2-3 shift at 6500 rpm.
This places you at 4300 rpm after the shift.
I cross the finish line at 6500 rpm in 3rd (Stock 3.55's)
Results are in sig.
According toa Ford Powertrain Engineer the connecting rods are rated to 6800 rpm.
Thats assuming no Power Adder. The more Boost/N2O you run the more the rpm has to be limited.
Edit: Ideally we would have a 2.95 Low Trans and 6500 rpm shifts with4.56's but I dont see that happening.
YMMV Use at your own risk. If it goes "BOOM!" your on your own.
