Changed my oil for the second time an hour ago at 4500 miles. I've used Motorcraft 5w20 Syn Blend with K&N filter both times. Next go around, I'll be switching to Mobile 1 Full Syn. I've read enough of these oil/filter threads to have decided to go that way, but everyone has their own opinion.[8D]

I actually use Mobil 1's oil filter as well as their full synthetic. Got both on sale.
[sm=goodidea.gif]That's what I've been useing on my supercharged Nissan and my GSXR-1000 from day 1 [sm=smiley20.gif]. For the stang I'm going with K&N for the oil filter and royale purple.

Yup, what he said, but I use Royal Purple...
Hell I wish my O'Reileys had the right Royal Purple. All they have is 5W30 and ofcourse we need 5W20 in GT's. I just use Castrol Syntec, works great and is fairly cheap. Especially if you can get your hands on a 5 quart jug of it as Wal-Mart.

The 5/0 weight is theviscosity of the oil in a cold state (lowerviscosity for better startup flow) and the 20/30 is theviscosity of the oil once it warms up.

I would stick with a 0w20 or 5w20 conventional or blend or if using full syn a 0w20/30 or 5w20/30 due to the better viscosity of syn.

Get the 0w20 Mobil 1. Stay away from 40 weight or higher!

^^ The second number/value also represents the oil's ability to lubricate(Lubricity) under load when at operating temps. Meaning a 5W20 oil will lfow more freely when hot resulting in better mileage, less resistance/friction internally, and maximum performance. But is also believed to decrease overall engine life by up to 30% vs. 5W 30 or 5W40 oil.[] Hence the reason you will see many N/A race application cars use 0W oils....

This should spell out things a little better for those who are still unsure of all the oil values, and what the numbers really mean.

So now the question is....

Who uses what? No, I'm not asking about brand. I'm asking how many acutally adhere to the SAE 5W20 recommendation for oil?

Hmm, maybe start a poll?

P.S. To those running SC's and Turbo's, are you still running 5W20? Cause I know when I turbocharged my bike I immediately was told to switch to 15W50 or 20W50.
