Default EMERGENCY BREAK HELP

I tried to set my emergency brake last night when I got home from work and it won't lock. I pull it up and the handle just slides back down. It worked fine when I set it in the morning when I went to work. Any ideas of what the problem might be?

There's a ratcheting mechanism in the handle that gets released when you pull up and push the button - if this isn't catching it's usually binding in the button, or the return spring for the latch - warranty if possible, if not, just order a new assembly from Ford - I recall reading that they're not too expensive, and it's easier than trying to rebuild a broken unit.

Then again, if it worked again afterwards, then it would be binding - I suppose trying some WD40 wouldn't hurt..

Now I feel like an idiot [sm=headbang.gif] I received the MGW parking breakoverlay for christmas and I guess I tightened the front set screw to much. I went out during my lunch break today, loosened it and now my parking break works again. [sm=smiley14.gif]
