yeah by the way you told the story there's no way in hell that cop could of radared you while driving in the opposite direction(unless he was parked and i misread). Atleast he gave you a warning because otherwise you could have got that ticket thrown out.

Just so you know, that's a myth. Radar works even if the cop is moving. And 17 over is enough to dispel any variance or inaccuracy.

That said, glad to hear you didn't get a ticket. Just being respectful will usually get you free.

My last ticket was for going 93 in a 65. Cop came back and said "I'm going to give you a break". I thought he was going to let me off. "I'm only going to give you a ticket for speeding and not reckless endangerment". I guess I should have felt lucky, but when I saw the amount, not so much. I was on I-75 near Ocala, FL (middle of nowhere), but they had a sting going on and I was clockedby an airplane.

I got pulled over yesterday and haven't even had it a month. "Improper Start" and probably speeding but he let me off with a warning and a speech. It was the first time I've been pulled over by FHP and the first time I've been excused.

Damn that really sucks, theres nothing out there. Did he write the correct speed as well? .. or did he give you a break on that?

I got pulled over by a Texes state trooper. That usually = auto ticket but just let me off with a warning. Lucky!

I feel like if I even comment in this thread it will jinx me.
So yea, to the OP, lucky the cop went easy on ya. They don't like us 'types. Hehehe.

I got busted twice in this past year (careless passing at an intersection, and 78 in a 50- guilty as sin on both counts!), and was only given a "warning ticket" both times by those cops because I have a completely clean slate even though I've been driving for 42 years (just turned 58).
I was also respectful and contrite cause I knew I was wrong.
Had I still been a young "punk" however, I'm absolutely certain that they would have thrown the book at me.
Gotta love getting older- at least as far as confrontations with the cops goes....
