Default RE: Fusebox... where?

Thanks for the info. I'm surprised you took the effort to dismantle your car and take photos for me. O_O

Appreciate it.

PS I already managed to get the wires length long enough for the passenger fusebox hence why I'm not sure why it isn't working.

Now my question how do you add a fuse? I'm noob sorry. x.x

Sorry man. But if it was me, I would clip the "O" connector off the end of your wire, splice a longer piece of wire on, and us an Add A Fuse at the passenger side fuse box....

Or, depending upon where you mounted your radar detector, you could also run the wire up the pillar on the drivers side, and tap in under the overhead console. Option 1 would be preferred, I believe....

No problem on the dismantle....been up for hours...LOL......

Anyway, here is a pic of the passenger fuse panel with the add a circuit in place. Basically, you pull the fuse out of the location you want to use, plug in the two pronged end of the add a fuse, and then plug two fuses into the block on the add a fuse. The wire you ran would obviously be spliced into the splice connector.....

Hope it helps. This picture does not indicate the location in the fuse panel as noted above.....

Mike

The add a fuse is something you can buy from any auto parts store. Just go in the electrical section and look for it. They have a bigger and smaller sized add a fuse, and you need the smaller size. Just cut the circle end off of your wiring harness and solder it to the add a fuse and then plug the add a fuse into spot number 13 in the fuse box. Make sure you also buy 2 extra 5 amp mini fuses to put in the side of the add a fuse connector, or else it will not send any power to your radar detector.

How do I know which to use? I get rather uncomforatble working with fuse boxes and not having a clue at to what each belongs to.

plug in the two pronged end of the add a fuse
What is this quote "add a fuse?" Do I need to go out and buy it?

then plug two fuses into the block on the add a fuse.
lost me there.

You means taking off the o ring and running the wires in that way?

Sorry I must sound like such a dumb **** right now. I can't wait till my haynes manual comes in...

just one problem I was really hoping to get it installed and workingtoday.. starting tommorrow I have my day job 8 hours then after have to drive for an hour out to training in arlington then sit in a class room for another 8 hours. This will take place from the 2nd to the 18.

Not going to be fun hence why I'm prolly going to want to speed some.[:-]

All of the fuse spots are lableled on the inside of the fuse box cover. Plug the add a fuse into spot number 13. It is empty and it is under a 5 amp fuse. On the side of the add a fuse connector, there are two spots to add fuses. If you do not put fuses in these spots, then no current will flow from the fuse box and into your radar detector. You will have to cut off your "O-ring" and solder/tape that end of the wire to the blue end of the Add a fuse connector.

Here is a link to the on line owners manual. Go to page 166. It shows all the fuse locations, and their use....

Sorry about the "add a fuse", I meant Add A Circuit, which we were already referring to.....

Here is another picture of the add a circuit. You can see that it has one 5 amp fuse plugged into it. You would need a second 5 amp fuse plugged in, right below it. You should be able to cut the O ring end off your power wire, strip the end, plug it into the blue connector you can see, and just crimp the end. Unless you have already extended that wire, and in that case, you would strip the end of the wire you have already extended. The two silver ends you can see in this picture would plug into the fuse spot you have picked from the fuse box. If you are using location 13, since there is no fuse in that location, the add a circuit would plug right in without pulling a fuse....However, since there is a fuse used above and below location 13, you may have an issue getting the add a circuit plugged in.

I personally used location 14, since there is a blank spot below it in the fuse panel, and it allows for the add a circuit to be easily plugged in.

This looks to be a 5 amp. http://www.amazon.com/Littelfuse-Add.../dp/B0009U64H4
10 amp http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=071-580

I'm pretty sure this is what I want. Please confirm.

They are both essentially the same thing. But you can just run down to either auto zone, or pep boys, whatever, and pick them up for a couple of bucks.....
