Question about a Fuel problem!!
I just installed the Hellion Kit on my car and after driving it a few days my fuel guage started messing up. After driving awhile the fuel guage just randomly goes to Empty and the computer says there are 0 miles to empty even though the car is full of gas. When I turn the key to the on position it will display the amount of gas correctly but then goes to E after you crank it up now. I figure it has something to do with the fuel pumps but, before i go pulling this thing out which freakin sucks just figured I would see what some of you think it might be. I have replaced the factory pump with the Ford gt duel pumps. thanks for the help.
ok...i'm thinking it may have something to
do with either:
a) the fuel crossoverfrom the passenger side sender, or
b) the wiring
note: i believe the tank fuel level, is determined by
averaging the two floats....

those gt pumps are a pain. I can't tell you how many times i pulled mine out. It's definitely something inside the tank though. Mine had an issue with getting the wires wrapped around the sender, and not allowing it to raise up the whole way and show a full tank. It may also be the crossover tube, i had issues with that also, and it makes weird things happen to your fuel level. In any case, pull it back out and see what you notice.
thanks man..yeah i already pulled it out once cause one of my hoses broke loose from the middle pumpand the fuel pressure went bye bye. From like 32 psi to 10 psion my fuel gauge.
if i were you, i would upgrade to a GT500 system. It's more of a drop in replacement than the GT pump setup is. I had all the issues you're describing, and battled them for6 months (including pulling fuel pumps out on the side of 4 lane highways). I had a hose come loose also, but didn't find it until after my motor let go. May have had something to do with it... you don't want to lose that pressure on a full throttle run. That's why i bought the MMR system, but i would probably just get the GT500 setup if i did it again. The more i think about it, the more i hate the cobbed together GT setup.
