E-Brake Seized Up !!

RE: E-Brake Seized Up !!
Okay, my e-brake did seize up on New Years day. I did not have it all the way engaged, so I did not notices until I took my foot off the gas and it felt like I was braking. At a stop, I pull on my e-brake and felt no resistance. After letting the car warm up all the way, I pull the e-brake all the way and back down, then it released. Since the E-brake is fine now, how do I get a dealership to fix it? Is there anyway on line to check when my warranty is up?

You heater only heats the inside of your car.
As a general rule for almost any car.. never put your e-brake on in temps below 30 F. Especially if it has been damp before the temp dropped.

Its a good thought, but this morning I started the car a good 20 minutes before I tried to leave. I had the heat on full blast while the car was warming up. Then again I am a vert so the ragtop may disappate heat more than a hardtop.
I'm heading home for lunch to play around with it. I will let you guys know what I find. Thank you to everyone for their help. This site is amazing.

Checked it again about an hour ago. Its gotten much warmer but the e-brake is still not functioning. The e-brake handle still moves freely. I guess I'm going to have to crawl up under the car tonight and see if I can see the cable catching on anything. Otherwise, not sure how I'm going to get it to the dealership for warranty work without getting her towed.

RE: E-Brake Seized Up !!
Like stated in the stickied thread....if you go and work with the cable around the rear wheels it will come loose, when the level is disengaged there should be play in the cable to tug on and such.....the boot gets frozen then cracks, thus allowing more water to get in there and freeze. you can also drive around a little bit (around the block), you will drag the brakes but it will help it break free.
