To sell or to keep...rant
UGH.
Where to start...
Ive got an 2005 Mustang GT, and its the constant issues that come up that bug the crap out of me.
Currently, at the top of the list i have a transmission whine still unresolved from the dealer, second an nasty *** oil smell that always permeates into the cabin.
The transmission was replaced by the dealership, noise still there, they said to me we will not fix it until something breaks or drops off. Period.
The oil smell, they have replaced both valve covers and gaskets and the smell still exists.
Ive tried 3 dealerships all togther and have gotten the same awesome answer.
"Ford engineers at the ford hotline have no idea how to proceed."
"They have tried all the obvious solutions, and there is not much more we can do until the problem gets worse."
Ive called the 1-800 customer hotline, bitched, and got the same answer.
Interestingly enough, when asked for a supervisor, i was told there was none. I hung up to avoid launching a personal attack at the poor bastard on the other end.
I am tempted to say if i continuing driving with an oil vapour leak, pass out, and crash, im suing you the mechanic, the dealership and the entire ford organization. Its a far fetched idea, but I need something to spur these jackasses into action.
My 3 year bumper to bumper is about to expire, but I do have a 5 year powertrain warranty.
BUT, i dont feel like putting up with this crap for 2 more years.
So ... do i tough it out, and keep the car? Or do i sell and buy a truck instead? i know selling the car, i will regret it. nothing beats a great sounding small block
If i were to sell / trade in my stang, id still need to come up with $10k+ for a new truck, and i really can't afford it.
What would you guys do?

RE: To sell or to keep...rant
about the tranny whine: when does it do it?
about the oil smell: this may sound like a small suggestion, but the simplest thing would be that it's oil that is on the motor somewhere, maybe got spilled or from a past or current leak. if it's caked on at all it will linger and linger until it's cleaned off.

tranny whine= audible in 3rd and 4th @ 2000-2500rpm
@ 60mph + in 4th its freaking obnoxious
it sounds like the bottom end of the motor is going to take a crap on the road
as for the oil leak / spill, thats a good idea. i'll poke around and check

also, you might want to change your cabin filter and wipe that area down to ensure clean air is coming inside.
goodluck with your decisions though.. I know how irritating car problems can get, especially if you drive it every day.

If you find a car that won't make you rant, you let us know OK.
I have no complaint about my car what so ever, not for what they sell for anyway.
I really feel sorry for you guys with problems from the get go...
I hope someone finds a remedy. If not, you might wanna trade it.
Good luck.
