Default 360ci build

I finally decided to make the plunge and started building the new big bore block with ST Motorsports.

I have to wait 3 weeks for the custom pistons. They are custom diamond pistons and I'm trying to work with a .050 overbore.

The block is insane and I'm working on the new crank, rods, and other details now. Car should be back in action in about 4-5 weeks. 360ci with 18 psi of boost for daily driver and 23 psi for the track. I'll do a write up on the build as it goes along and parts start coming. Should be about a 9.5:1 compression and will easily make and handle 1000+ rwhp. Going to be a torque monster and I'm excited about launching this thing. May not even have to use the trans brake...lol

Here's a couple pics of the big bore block...

It's a full 1" thick through out the main web.

I can not wait to see this. That is just the right engine size. How does the reprogramming of the computer work? Do they do this for you or do you have to map it out on your own? Please write all you can during the build. Thanks.

Will two bolt main caps handle that ??

Looks like there was provision for 4 bolt setup with that casting........

Definitely has to be completely custom tuned and I'm leaving that to Adam at ST. I've always been a fanboy of the stock cams so those are staying and I already have a bitchin valve train to compliment them. By rear was taken care of long ago so I'm go to go there as well. My trans will handle this with ease so I'm good there to.

I've wanted to do this for awhile but just kept putting it off cause I've had such an awesome motor for so long. I lifted a head last week and pulled everything to do a freshen' up and my motor was fine but since it was already torn down, I said F' it p let's do the big bore build...lol

I'll keep this thread alive with pics and writeups during the build. I'm pretty excited and agree this is the PERFECT motor for the S197...[sm=icon_rock.gif]

Whats the price range on this build?? Im curious to know what takes place... Do you just change the short block with a big bore 5.4?

I love learning more about this!

Teach me sensay!

Good eyes! That particular block belongs to my friend (caliHP) and he is building a similiar set-up with a 330ci set-up and .020 over pistons. I ordered my block yesterday and it is the same but with a 4 bolt set-up.

Modaddict, I have to agree with you, this sounds to me like the engine that should have been offered as an option for this car. I'm excited and it isn't even my car!
