I was gonna get the Avic GPS...But decided instead, to get one that I can use in more than one Car. Is anyone familiar with the Tom Tom XLS, any input would be helpful...They want $279.00 Good/Bad???

Gotta get a 4.3" screen!
Unfortunately, the under $300 GPS's are lacking in features and it's crazy to spend $600+ on a GPS that will be obsolete next season

That deserves a +infinity.

EDIT: As to keep RELAVENCY to the OPost, Get the Z2 or Z1 with a Z2 hard drive and avoid the cheap car to car GPSs.

I bought a Garmin C330 last year, and I like it. I have friends who bought the TomToms, and after seeing the Garmin they regretted having bought the TomTom. I didn't like the way that the TomTom went through the address entry; the Garmin was a lot better.

The only thing I wish my particular Garmin had was the street name announcements, telling you vocally which street to turn on. Unfortunately, to get that feature was an additional $150 at the time, something I didn't have.

It's ok, I'm saving up for a different Nav/DVD system for my car. The Garmins, though, you really can't go wrong with. I'm really happy with mine.

Never thought I needed one but when I stumbled on a refurb Magellan Roadmate 2000 for around $125 I figured, what the heck...turned out to be one of the best purchases I ever made.

Now if I had to pay $500+ I would feel a lot differently about it. I'd be using a $5 map.

I picked up the garmin 660 last year for under $500, has all the bells+ the best feature is that we can move it from car 2 car. I think garmin over tom tom.

I moved here to Austin, TX, which has some fubared roads and needed a GPS. Purchased a Garmin dash mount unit to learn the city. I don't even know where it's at right now. My next road trip I'll have to dig it up. That's the only time I use it now, road trips and business trips. I couldn't seehaving one permanently mounted in my car. I would never use it....

I bought the Garmin Nuvi 250W and I will nottravel anywhere without it. I almost bought a Tom Tom from Circuit City, but when I read the reviews on it, it quickly changed my mind.
