All GT500s are equiped with side airbags. The GT has the option to have them or not, the GT500 has them defacto no need to list the obvious

So, you'd be willing to risk your safety over seat covers?

OK.

OK.
So, I'm guessing those people who didn't get the optional side airbags are pretty much dead everytime they step behind the wheel?

LOL, Yeah, and those foolhardy souls burdened with vintage muscle cars, Heaven forbid,, No airbags, headrests, shoulder belts and metal dashboards. Oh yeah, no black boxes, how horrible!

The point is, you've got 'em. Why take them out over seat covers?

That is correct.
Also, make sure the battery is disconnected when you mess around with airbags[8D].
[8D]: Ok hey all you gotta do is cut this wire here and your side airbags will disable.

[&:]: Alright let me just go ahead and cut em.

*Snip*

*POOF*

[sm=smiley3.gif]: DUDE! Are you alright?

[sm=smiley18.gif]: I thought you disconnected the battery...

[X(]: Here let me take a look at it. [sm=sorry.gif]

*Punch*

[sm=smiley18.gif]: What was that for?!??!?!!

[sm=smiley18.gif]: Moron.

I was thinking of getting seat covers too but I have side airbags. Is there anything that will protect our seats from getting thrashed over the years?

Everything is relative...
Hold a 67 fender inthe rightarm and hold a 2000+ fenderin the other... See witcharm gets tired first.
+1 on the seat belts though.

Here's a pic of my 70 Cougar when a ***** ran the light on meat 40mph![:@]The car's still around (avatar), so am I.

You don't need to disconnect the battery. There is a yellow plug under your seats. This is for the side air bag. If you unplug it, Only has two wires, then the side airbag will not go off. This is the wire that carrys the power to the airbag actuator (sp) it is only hot when the senor tells the air bag to go off.
