Very straightforward to do. I had my car on ramps, and it was tight but doable.

Here's another write up, for another perspective:
http://www.stangnet.com/Tech-Article...ll-061016.html

I have my Hurst coming in this week, and plan on installing Friday or Saturday. Getting mine from Brenspeed as well.

I lifted up the right side only of the car on jackstands and followed these instructions. It was easy.

It is for the MGW but will be very similar for Hurst.

Yep, nuthin to it as long as you don't have a 4' driveshaft. This is a pic of what I looked at undercar and had to work around. sheez.... After 2 shifter installs working around this thing, I'll drop it next time!
I did it with a 4" driveshaft. The shifter was one of the easier mods to do in fact... Very few parts, and if you get in trouble it won't be too hard to throw the stock one back on.

I think the main problem I had with the driveshaft was the larger u-joint/s andgetting the thing thru the transom hole. I actually had to back it up and down the jacks a bit to get the u-joint in the right positionto provideenough clearance.

But yeah, you're right it wasn't all THAT bad. Just would have been MUCH easier if I had dropped the shaft.

Doesn't matter because I've got the only shifter that will ever be in this car in there now. Unless perhaps they develop something better....

Is there anyone in the Orlando area that wouldn't mind hanging out one day and installing it with me? I would like to work with someone on it that has the expereince and right tools.

If you don't have access to a lift, make sure you put the jack stands under the rear torq box, in front of the rear wheel.
You want your rear axle to be all the way down, lowest possible.
That way the D.shaft will give you the clearance you need.

Feed the shifter from the top of the trans tunel.

Piece of cake...
That would be helpful if it were a 1 piece drive shaft.

I see what you're saying Pascal. That's going to help me next time I have to get under there to make adjustments, etc. I've just been driving it up on ramps and using jackstands under the k-member. Getting that driveshaft more extended by jacking the rear would help a lot. Thanks!
