Hurst Install
I have a Hurst SS on order from Brenspeed and was wondering if it would be difficult to install with the provided instructions? Can people that have perfromed the install please give me some feedback on this? I would say I am intermediate at installs of this nature. Thank you.

RE: Hurst Install
If you don't have access to a lift, make sure you put the jack stands under the rear torq box, in front of the rear wheel.
You want your rear axle to be all the way down, lowest possible.
That way the D.shaft will give you the clearance you need.
Feed the shifter from the top of the trans tunel.
Piece of cake...

Here's another write up, for another perspective:

I have my Hurst coming in this week, and plan on installing Friday or Saturday. Getting mine from Brenspeed as well.

Read those other links first...it's an easy install....just ONE reminder. When removing the bolt by the tranny hump...If you use a "Gearwrench" wrench, that does NOT toggle back and forth. Make SURE you don't back the bolt out too far.
If you DO, then you'll have to lower the tranny cross brace to get the bolt and the wrench out. You'll know what I mean when you get to that point!!!!!

RE: Hurst Install
JoshyGT - just installed it yesterday and i'm definitely not a mechanic. Hardest part as you will discover is getting the Hurst through the hole. Looking through the hole just make sure it goes over the cross member and then from underneath you can maneuver it in.Congrats. Feels like shifting a rifle bolt.
Otherwise, not to hijack this thread but its related...
I got grease on the threads of the bolt that connects the transmission linkage to the underside of the shifter. I tried to wipe off as much as possible and use threadlocker but i'm still nervous the nut will undo itself from all the various posts. I want to put another nut behind it to lock it in.
Does anyone know the right nut size i need??

Yep, nuthin to it as long as you don't have a 4' driveshaft. This is a pic of what I looked at undercar and had to work around. sheez.... After 2 shifter installs working around this thing, I'll drop it next time!
