Default Anyone running a Granatelli CAI

I bought a CAI about two months ago and have been pretty happy with the results so far,but have notice some pinging/knock in the high RPM's near the redline. Has anyone else experienced these same problems with the GMS system and if so how did yo fix it? I don't want to junk the intake, but would like to fix this before it can harm the engine. I don't run the car hard very often so it should be fine for now, but I would like to hit the track next summer. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated!

I really don't want to get a tune right now which is why I went this route to begin with. I was wondering if this was an issue that others have had with this setuphoping there was a fix other than replacing it.

I had that setup and never had any problems and was using 87 octane. I had it on for about 8 months I think.

I still have the GMS CAI, but got a tune from Brenspeed. I just removed the piggy back piece and replaced the MAF in the GMS with the stock MAF.

I haven't had any pinging, but after about driving the car for about a month, the check engine light came on. Cleared it and haven't had any issues. Not sure if it was a fluke or something with the CAI.

I too have heard pinging when you get on it in a new gear under load. It only tends to happen when I put crappy gas in. If I use 76 or Chevron I tend to not have any problems with pinging. This day and age with gas as high as it is sometimes I will sacrifice horsepower for gas money

Maybe it is the gas, but I use either Exxon or Texaco most of the time. Maybe I should try the 89 octane instead of 87???

I'm sure I'll get flack for this but I'm going to say it anyway....

GMS parts = rip off cheap designs and crap... sorry but true.

I wouldn't buy anything from them.

89 wont do anything for you. Try using 76 or Chevron
