Default +12v behind the dash?

I need to find a 12v wire behind the dash that only turns on when the car is on. I am going to tap into it so I can charge my ipod only when the car is on. I have one of those plugs that goes into the dock plug on the bottom of the ipod and has RCA out and 12v into the ipod if that makes sense. Does anyone know of a wire I can tap into? I was thinking of tapping into the wiring harness on the stereo, but does it have a 12v on it?

Yes it does. Can't tell you the wire itself but it does. I just installed an iPod interface on my wifes '06 Escape that allows the iPod to play and be controlled through the Ford stereo satellite controls. It also charges the iPod while it's connected.

What is position 13 on the fuse box? Thank you for the help, I will keep looking around too. I guess I could just check it with the volt meter when I have it apart.

Don't know the fuse layout on the 05+ mustangs. Sorry. V/Ohm meter is the best bet.

position 13 is a 12vdc source, that only
comes on when the key is in the "on"
position or the car is running

Thank you for the help. I am going to just plug it into position 13 on the panel and get one of those adapaters from radio shack. It will make it very easy. I will let you all know how it goes.

cool, using #13 is the best way imo.

it's a mini add-a-circuit and i'd use a 5A fuse....

for future reference....the radio power wire
looks to be the Gray w/Yellow stripe and it's
on fuse F6
