Certified used Mustang GT? OR NEW?
A local dealership has a used 2005 Mustang GT and I like it BUT I want a warranty and they say it is "Certified" so what does that mean? Should I consider this or just go new?

I don't think ford has a certified program, it sounds like a dealership specific knock off program that will give you troubble, if you plan to use that dealership repeatedly make sure to get all the info in writing and work a zero deductible in there.
the mielage also needs to be low.

I was looking ata used 05 as well. After I priced it out adding the extended warranty, it was only around $1k more for me to get my brand new 07. I say keep shopping for a good deal on a new one (unless you are getting a really, really good deal on the 05).

Have you considering decontenting? You can by a new Deluxe for mid-$24's.
Just go on Fords site and use different zip codes to search different areas.
Find cars you can live with option and price and then send in a request for an internet price quote.
Its been my experience you get the pretty much lowball price this way and will have several quotes to compare.
If you need to trade consider going to several"no haggle" dealers that have a buy your carregardless policy.
Sell them yours and then go pivk up your new one.
I got out of a2 year old F150 for $4,000 less than I payed new ($19,000 vs $23,000) this way.
The same dealer that sold me my 2007 Deluxe with 3.55 currently has a 2008 Deluxe with IUP (Leather Steering Wheel, Aluminum Dash, Laser Cut Mustang Door Inserts, etc) forjust over $27 MSRP and Im sure you could get it for well under$25. Of course you give up theLeather Seats and Crapper 500Stereo for Cloth and the standard 80W that doesnt kill the battery.
Also double check your Employer as you may be eligible for X-Plan. 40% of the country is and most dont even know it.
Pretty much anyone who supplies anything (not just parts)to Ford is. Moving Services, Package Delivery, Phone Companies,
PC Suppliers, Web Design, Office Supplies, Janitorial, etc.

The milage is about 39,000 and price is about $18,000. So far the best price I am getting quoted at for NEW 08 is $24,000. All I want is a black GT, manual, leather with interior package upgrade.

For $6,000 personally I would go with new - a warranty that will travel with the car (in case you have to go to a different dealer), 0 miles vs 39,000 unknown miles (driven really hard?) and 3 years less depreciation. Others will have different opinions of course.
