I'm not even believing Matt said cold (dense) air isn't an important factor. WOW!!!

No no, that is a huge factor i agree....im just saying that I dont see that many CAIs drastically reducing the air temp. It would be great if they did this though!

OK, sorry about the mix up. I agree then, especialy the ones made of metal which are prone to heat soak.

I'm not going to debate the finer points about fluid dynamics and all that other crap (since I'm no scientist), but I do know this: MY butt-dyno is happy.

Like I said before, the butt dyno tells no lie. If that little sticker that someone put on makes 5 more HP, then it does, if the butt dyno says it does. The butt bone is connected to the brain bone etc.

HAve you looked under the hood of the Shelby GT? CAI and I believe the literature dances around the term "tune". I'm sure it's not as radical a tune as we like with our 91 and 93 octane tunes. Ford backed down from their original releases and now say the Shelby GT has 319hp or a 19hp gain from CAI and minor tune....not bad. So, with a premium tune, and perhaps a little better CAI, I'd say your butt dynos are on the money.

I don't understand why Ford didn't make the Shelby GT a premium fuel only car and load a better tune, change the exhaust a little and make it a 330-335 hp car. I know the handling is better but it's a lot of money for an autograph and 19hp........spoken from someone who needs to drive his car as opposed to a collector

I have to disagree howarmat.
I have a MSD DashHawk that shows AAT and IAT.
I see IATs of about 4 degrees higher than AAT at
cruise speed. It goes higher at a stop.
I does not matter if its 10 or 100 degrees AAT.
I did not check my stock OEM airbox so I dont
have anything to compare my readings to but
4 degrees IAT over AAT is pretty darn cool air.

That is the exact argument though, when comparing a CAI intake temp to the stock airbox temp I cant see it being that much difference, thus make the CAI more about the airflow difference than about cooler air.
