Supercharger is trashed...
ORIGINAL: chrisc
Well some of you guys may have saw in the shoutbox I was saying my car sounded like a space ship. It turns out that my supercharger is trashed, the bearing is about to go. Got it to the shop at 3, and came to the conclusion that it was 100% the blower's fault at 5, so we didnt get a chance to call Vortech. Hopefully Vortech will warranty the blower even though it is a custom setup. According to Vortech's specs on the V-2 SQ S-Trim, with the 2.87" pulley I can still push it about 500 more RPMs before I max it out. We also checked the oil feed and it is working totally fine, and the oil is good in the car. It seems that the bearing just gave out....only about 6k miles on the sucker.
If Vortech will cover it in full, I may look to upgrade to a V-4 Y-Trim blower if it is under $1k. The shop said it was not probably that Vortech will do this, but they said they will try to convince them...apparently they have a "man on the inside". However, if they wont cover it at all, I will probably pull the system totally and sell everything except the blower and save for a new car totally.
For those with blowers, an early sign is finding the supercharger to have a slightly louder and higher pitched whistle. Also, there will be the slight sound of something rubbing against a pulley or the belt. Even if the sound goes, it is still possible. Mine started last night, but went away this morning. I drove it to the shop, barely anything at all. When they looked at it first, they said it was probably just something heating up and rubbing on the belt, they suspected the EGR tube, and moved it back about 1.2cm. When I brought it back home, it was howling, so I brought it back again. According to them, another 60 mile trip and I could have risked engine damage (30 there, 30 back).

Hey 06Saleen3V, is your car setup as a police "imposter"? If so do you have to remove the lights and anything else to run on the roads?
