RE: Looking for 2005+ Mustang with a bad engine
+1 on getting a V-6
One of the mags used a new one to drop a powerful engine into
I bet the used prices on a 2005 V-6 with a ton of miles (maybe a rental) are less than the cost of a GT with a bad engine. Plus I bet most people with a 2005 GT blown engine just replace the engine!

I'd rather get a V6 because of the reduced cost, and everything from engine to rear end whatever's in-between will have to go, so it dosen't matter to me. Also, If I could find a flood damaged one with a fried electrical system, that would be good too, since a computer wouldn't be of any use on a carburated engine.
I hadn't thought of looking at fleet/rental cars. It's probably my best bet until the warranties start running out or someone goes crazy with the NOS.

RE: Looking for 2005+ Mustang with a bad engine
No matter which I found, I'd still have to put in a bigger rear end, suspension all around, and a handfull of small details, but the swap shouldn't be too bad. However, If I wanted the radio to work, as well as the gauges and other little electronic doodads I'm in for a world of pain.
BTW Bluestar you might be hearing from me by springtime
The only thing that might stop me is the Illinois emissions laws, but I might be able to do a few crafty things with state registration/vin numbers. Luckily my father was a Chicago cop so he's given me a few pointers.
Anyway, just for poops and giggles I'll post some pics of the engine next weekend It's sexy...

Nothing like having a dad that's a cop giving pointers on how to break the law, way to go pops, way to uphold that oath you swore!!
I hope you have a good friend to sit beside you and say "Man, that was f@#%!ng AWESOME!!" , as your sig says.
