Default Instrument Cluster Upgrade?

Hi all. Just got my new Mustang on Friday and I love it. My Mustang has everything I wanted except for the IUP. The only part of the IUP I was really interested in was the upgraded instrument cluster. I've talked to the dealer and they said it shouldn't be a problem, but they weren't sure if Ford would even give them the upgraded instrument cluster unless it was for a repair. I found one online and went ahead and purchased it in the hopes it can be used. Has anyone else done this? Any gotchas I should be aware of? The dealer estimated $145 for the install.

Do you mean the multi color gauge option? I didn't get that on mine and was wondering how to add it. Where did you buy the upgraded one?

I like this a way to add it third party off a salvaged stang ... I don't want to have my stang being held up becuase of some colors...

I just recieved my Stang today and it ROCKS!!! I did not get the IUP so that I could have it sooner. I sure do want all the polished metal and extra gauges though. Please post your satisfaction with your purchase and install so that I can follow your lead. Thanks.

Here is the page I ordered the part from http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...05&catalogid=1

The home page is www.milleniumford.com

I will continue to post here what I discover and how hard / easy it is.

very cool! I like the IUP but adding it and you have to get all that metallic **** all over your dash. The clean black looks better to me but now to be able to just have

w/Message Center 2005 $281.29 $228.55
Includes Speedometer, Tach, Fuel & Temp Guage.

is a great find and I will be getting one ...

thanks

Thanks for the info Lubricant. That is pretty much what my Ford dealer said they needed to do. I am hoping the new instrument cluster also comes with the buttons that operate the message center. No word yet on when the new cluster will get here.

You have the lower end instrument cluster as well, Afixer. The updated cluster gives you alt, oil and a message center that gives you things like gallons left, MPG, number of tickets you can expect to get this year etc. etc. The links I posted earlier have the V6 version of the upgraded instrument cluster, so if the upgrade works for the GT it should work for you as well.
