Default 3m tape and cold weather

finally got my gt500 spoiler in (I'll post some pics as soon as I can) and am itching to install it. Only problem is it's in the 30's in NJ[:@]
Can I still install the spoiler or will the tape not stick? Anybody ever try putting on anything with 3m tape in the cold?

i would wait. I'm picking up a roush spoiler this weekend and some cervini's side scoops. You need to make sure the area is clean. Use some alcohol to get off the wax and whatever else could be in the way of the tape. I would make sure its hot out and even then I would use a blow dryer to heat the area a little more so the glue cures properly. Just wait until march or april, I know its hard to do though. Doesn't it use the factory holes though?

If it uses the factory holes just put it on. The bolts are MORE than enough to hold it on...the tape doesn't do much more than act as a cushion between them.

I putgrilles in my scoops yesterday (38 degrees). I used 3M emblem tape. It worked perfectly.

For proper curing and intsallation of the tape, 3M recommends temps above 60. I'm not sure what the temp is for the 24 hour cure time. But if it's bolted, also, I don't think I'd worry too much. Just be sure to prep the tape mating surface with a good solvent . Do NOT use 70% alcohol. Even 90% isn't recommended.

That 3-M tape is as sticky as Gorilla Snot, between the screws and that tape, it shouldn't be a problem. But you should at least wait till it's a Sunny Day to do it, unless of course you have a Garage.

doesnt need tape bolts right up to factory holes.(after trimming down the two outer honeycomb areas)

heres a walkthrough. If you have a garage go for it. If not wait for warmer weather.

I think he is referring to the rear spoiler not the GT500 Lip spoiler.

I would wait until it warms up. Why take chances? Do the job right and don't cut corners.

You should also let the tape cure for 24 to 48 hours before driving it. Although, 72 hours is best. I think 3M tape is cured to almost 100% after 3 days. I'd have to look up the stat.

Wait for 70 degree weather and use 3M4298 Adhesion Promoter.
