Honestly, and not knocking the V-6 too much... If you can afford it, get the GT. I have one, get about 25 on the highway, GF's V-6 26. Both 5-speeds and mine has the optional 3.55's and not the 3.31's. Around town, she's around 23, I'm around 21. The mileage is so similar most times it's scary, but I guess when the engines are only .6 liters apart, and the GT has better heads and variable valve timing it's not that surprising.

We put all GT stock stuff under her car, and it drives fine. She had a limit and bought the base V-6. No ABS, no TCS. But the engine is just noisy (not broken, the V-6 just roars and the car is not nearly as quiet as mine unless you are simply cruising down the interstate).

Get the GT! The sound, power and mod options (V6's have some as well) is well worth it. I like all stangs but would definitely go with the GT. Even with my mod's I hit 25mpg on the highway.

I average 21mpg, but then again I don't beat on the thing usually either.

I can't tell you what my mileage is but its not going to be what they are capable of because I like the punch it all the time. If you like performance get the GT. If you buy the GT you won't say I wish I'd bought the V6. If you buy the V6 someday you'll say I should'a bought a V8.

All the posts are true. If you can afford a v8 and it's insurance and gas DO IT!!!!! But if you can only afford a v6 but you want the power of a v8 with cheaper insurance, just supercharge it and you will have more power than a stockor mildbolt on v8 with the cheap insurance. It pretty much comes down to what you can afford!!!!
