Roush Shift Knob
Sounds right, DJ!
BTW, can you please post some pics of the Roush shifter ball and it's components? I wondered what it actually came with when I was in the shift ****/ball market.

You put the shift boot retainer on first, which is the tube with the discs attached. Then the nut, then the ball. You can try it the way that you're talking but when I did that, the shift **** kept coming loose. The retainer allowed too much movement.
You could do what I did in the end, and get one of these. It will replace the black metal piece and the nut. It has threads built in. I got it from grabberpony.com.

Well I screwed around with it a bit (no pun intended) and the only way I was able to make it work was to put the retainer thing around the boot then the nut exposed over it and then the shift **** itself. It is tight and correctly positioned, but the nut being there is annoying and looks terrible so I hope there is another way to do this since appearance and feel are the two main reasons for putting this thing on in the first place. When I tried putting the nut on first, screwed it all the way down, then the retainer thing above it, there isn't enough room to put the **** on. The only thing I was thinking is a smaller nut on there that can be tucked inside the **** and not be visible. Anyone know the "measurement" (correct term?) of the shifter threads?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Again, if you read my post, your best option would be the adapter I pictured. I was stuck in your place as well. I even tried to find a nut that was half as thick and couldn't. Also, the boot will fall down unless you wrap electric tape around the shaft enough to keep the boot up. It costs a few bucks, but looks great and works very well.
