Default 275/45/18

Has anyone tried this tire size?

I found these http://www.onlinetires.com/default.a...&tid=24686 and they look pretty cool.

A size of 275/45/18 is about 27.74" tall, whereas the stock 235/50/18 is 27.25" tall.

To me the 275/40/18's look too short (because they are.... only 26.66" tall), and I think the 275/45/18 will be a great size for our cars...barring some possible rubbing issues if used in front. They are a nice wide tire, and they are slightly bigger around, thus filling out the space in the fender better.

Ok, I guess I should have clarified about the 274/40/18.
They look fine if you slam your car to the ground, but for those of us with a less aggressive drop or no drop, the 275/40/18 looks a little ridiculous.

At $243 bucks a pop, I could get 2 275/40/18 tires. That would be a big reason for me. You can get a 285/40/18 for less than $200 each and they are wider. And wider is better, Pontiac taught me that.

question: will a 275/45 0r 40 /18 fit on a 18x9 wheel? I would like to go to a wider back tire (have 255/45/18)

That's true, about the price, but I don't think you can fit 285's all around, and a 275 will go on a smaller rim, say 8.5" wide.

These tires are still cheaper than Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, and I see a few guys running those.

Yes, the 275 will fit. The member named "5th Gear" has 285/40/18's on 18x8.5 rims, and it looks awesome. It's probably not recommended, because I think 285 is too wide for 8.5" rims, but a 275 would be more manageable.

You can fit 285 all the way around, you just have to have the right offset, like around 38mm or 40mm.

thx guys...... now if I can find a 275/45/18 tire under $300 a piece for a decent tire...I also am concerned because I dont want to have the car look stupid with 2 different brand tires on it. HAve the kumho 255/45/18 all aorund now, but wanting a wider profile tire..kumho only makes a 275/40/18 which will have a smaller diameter than the front tire...and I will just have to suck it up and buy new tires all around....ok anyone want a set of 255/45/18 with very few miles on them? ...sorry to hijack the thread....
