Default Whipple HO Reliability

Will be ordering my supercharger on Monday. I have done a ton of research using the search function and asking around. My two choices are Brenspeed's Paxton HO Self Lubricating Air to Air Intercooled setup and the Whipple HO setup. Two very different superchargers both very good options. I love the fact that the Whipple will give boost right off the bat, but I'm concerned with the impact the Whipple will have on the engine overtime.Centri's don't really make much boost until 3K to 3500 RPM's which makes me believe it is a little better for the engine for around the town driving. The Whipple sure is a exciting kit and the fact it comes with the GT500 Fuel Pump makes it a good value.

I have great deals on both options. So please, one more time, give me your experiences for those that have one of these two kits.

you can't go wrong with either one, like you
said "both very good options"

you can abuse your engine very well, with
any of the s/c kits out there. how you drive,
will determine how well your powertrain holds up

+1. Tons of people with Whipples, and I have not heard of any issues with the FRPP tune.

The Brenspeed Stange 2 Saleen kit also makes a very good amount of power at a good price.. I wouldn't overlook it, ESPECIALLY if you never plan to go over 15-17 PSI (Brenspeed claims Saleen is good till 20, but I don't know)..

Me? I'm PERFECTLY happy at 7.

EDIT - oh yeah - my Saleen doesn't start making boost until 3k-3500.. You CAN, in fact, drive it aorund like a normal human being if you're careful...

I looked at the Saleen, but the Paxton is a better deal overall I feel. I'm leaning more and more towards the Whipple after seeing the dyno runs with the stock tune that they send you. I'll just be sure to feather the throttle around town.

My dyno sheets are impressive, and like I said, if you arent going over15-17psi, the Saleen can take you where you need. It's also a much more "stock" looking install than the whipple, and is a twin screw just like it.

exx - what was the install cost for your Saleen and gauges? I think in another post you mentioned 6700 out the door, but that have included your other goodies too

Just the Saleen stage 2, install, and boost gauge and install, out the door, would be like 6450. But, I had the xcal2 and steeda CAI already, so that saved me $385, plus I had $140 in gift certificates, plus Brent cut me a little deal on the install because of my shipping problems.

Even if I had paid list price for everything, and no gcs or breaks for stuff I already had, I still think it would have been one of the best deals going, especially with the numbers I got out of it. I'm wicked happy.
