Default WARRANTY QUESTION

does modding your car void the warranty? or does whatever you add just not get covered?

Ford's official position is "if your mod caused the problem, it's not under warranty."

Talk to the dealer that you're going to be bringing your car into for repairs (should they happen) BEFORE you mod. If they don't give you the answer you want (like the dealership that sold me my stang), go and ask others.

Of course, the heavier the mod, the more likely it is that you'll void your warranty.

if anything goes wrong you need to get back to stock before most dealers will touch it!
Obviously, if you add a mod and that part breaks the dealer can say the part caused the damage. There are "laws" that say they have to prove the mod caused the problem but that won't speed things up any.

yeah, i'm guessing they can pretty much get away with blaming problems on the mods, which is a concern. i think i'll have to talk to the dealer before doing anything, which will be a while anyways, i'm in no rush. thanks!

Screw the warranty concern. Mod the dang thing and enjoy. If nothing else, do the CAI & tune. You can return it to stock within 15 minutes if needed.

i don't know what that is but i'll look into it.

i'm mainly looking for something inexpensive to add to it right now, as i'm practically broke.
it's an 08 v6 5 speed auto.

CAI = Cold Air Induction, i.e a new, low restriction, intake tube and high flow airfilter
Tune = new software program for the car's computer, loaded via a "Tuner" - hand held computer that plugs into the cars OBD port below steering wheel.

Combined these items provide the best normally aspirated (non-supercharged) bang-for-the-buck improvement in horsepower and throttle response. They cost in the $600 range. Recommended you get them as a package, not separate. As stated above, very easy to install and remove.

+1 on Argonaut especially since you have an automatic V6; you need to wake up that pony.
