Orderin a blower!!!!
Ok finally got my car back and am down in Pensacola and am looking at starting my engine build. The first step is going to be the blower and am still unsure as to what I want.
Either a twin turbo settup, the 2.8 KB, or the Whipple H.O. kit. I am going to order it tomorrow so any last minute imputs that you might have as to what is best for a 800HP drag car that is daily drivable. The turbo settup is nice but its less streetable then the Twin Screw SCs that are both nice. Not sure what the difference between the two kits are except that that KB seems to be able to process more air overall.
I am going to be working with the guys at teamshinoda.com most likely but am still debating who to go with.
They want 800 dollars to install the SC from start to finish and 500 to install their stage III suspension settup... are those prices good? lol I am clueless on most of this but hope to get more knowledge as I go.
Oh and there will be lots of pics so no worries

RE: Orderin a blower!!!!
Personally, I wouldn't rush your decision. Don't be ordering it tomorrow unless you're positive with what you want. Just my two cents.
I'm going with the Whipple, because I want instant power, and it seems to be the most complete setup.
As for the install, that seems about average. My shop is charging me $700 for the install, and $125/hr to dyno tune it. I'm betting it'll take about two hours for the tune, so I'm looking at about $950.

800hp drag car but yet still dd? wow. I'm sure a twin turbo can make that power but wouldn't really be streetable. Do you think a ho kb or whipple can? For reliability I'd go with the twin screw. You do have a tough decision choosing between he two.

Both SC's are good. The price for install on both items were good also.
You may ask the installer what they preffer to work with, KB, Whipple, Turbo? A lot of shops have a preference and I believe it wise to work with what they have had the best luck with. You don't want to be the second whipple they have ever installed (I know thats probably not going to be the case, just saying).
I went KB because if you look around Strictly Performance you'll find that almost every car there has a KB on it. It became a no brainer to me.
Just saying you may want to factor that into your decision. I think it's something overlooked sometimes!

RE: Orderin a blower!!!!
Its going to be very hard to get that kind of power of a TS. If you build the engine correctly, I would toss in either a Centrifugal blower or Turbos, then you could get 700-800RWHP pretty reliable for the track and street, at that point its all in the tune.

You say your first step is FI. You're going for what, 800hp? I don't know you or the car sois the motor already "built" or stock? Are you going to do the whole induction and motor build together or in stages?
First step should be to get the short block full of forged items before you start heading North of 500hp

RE: Orderin a blower!!!!
congrats on getting your car back, first off, J!!!and i've decided on the whipple HO myself, but i'm not aiming for 800 hp. i can live with a little less......maybe 750. j/k,450-470 will be just fine for me. i think the TS will be more streetable, and i like the looks and sound of the whipple too. but its your call, and its a close one. keep us posted, bro!!!
