Shaker 500 ???????

RE: Shaker 500 ???????
guys, i used to install stereos for a living. for that 1200, you can get a nice head unit, two jl 10W3 subs, a custom box, memphis amp, and two sets of mb quart component speakers and still have money to spare. if any of you are wondering about this set-up, i had the exact thing in my '96 formula and you would not believe how many bass contests and sound quality comps i won.
praise your stang but dont let ford steal that 1200 bucks from you!!!

RE: Shaker 500 ???????
I can’t tell you how many “top of the line car stereos†I have heard over the years, but there were many. All of them put together by some baggy pants stereo installer at the local ear bleed stores. NONE of them had balanced natural sound. Just a mish mash of mismatched components that the salesman thought sounded good and talked people into.
A good stereo should be completely natural, with NOTHING that stands out in any way on its own. After all, you are supposed to be listening to the music as intended, not the stereo.
When I first got my shaker 1000 I thought it had too much bass, then I found out it was the cds I was listening to.
The Shaker 1000 is very clear and not over the top in any way in my car.
This is just my opinion

RE: Shaker 500 ???????
Ok, so the options are:
1. AM/FM CD player: $0 :: buy a complete new system (would be fun shopping for this)
2. Shaker 500: $665 :: upgrade speakers, maybe add an amp and boxed sub (a pain to figure out how to plug it into the Shaker 500 unit)
3. Shaker 1000: $1,770 :: do nothing, I'm sure it sounds nice, but pretty pricey
So, anyone else put together a system or swapped out some speakers?

1,200+ change if I remember correctly, still $ but financed and original equipment, which is worth more down the line to most.
Sounds good right off the showroom floor, and you dont have some guber with a screw driver messing with your new ride. (peace of mind)

Dare, what you are seeing is the pricing increases the Ford does every couple week. When i ordered mine it was 1200$. five min later when the dealer brought it up to look at it again it had jumped to 1295. Ford sees the demand and is jacking it's price every which way it can. I ordered the Shake~n~bake 1000. It better cook or I am gonna be pissed.

RE: Shaker 500 ???????
The Ford website is confusing. I upgraded my order to the Shaker 1000 today, and I have my paper in front of me. The 1000 is $1295 more (retail) on a Premium, which includes the 500 price. This means you already paid $665 for the 500 when you order a Premium and are adding $1295 for the two 10's and 500w amp to make it a 1000.
And yes, I thought it was worth it which is why I decided to upgrade (no way would I have spent $1900 more than the 500). IMHO, if you like hip-hop/rap with heavy, deep echoing bass lines (like I liked when I was 16), you'd be better off with a single aftermarket 15 than these 2 10's (go aftermarket for competitions). However, if you like hard rock, with heart pumping drums and bass guitar, then this is a great system (and space saving over an aftermarket box). If you like country or pop, then the 500 is just fine. I was actually very impressed with the 500 (I admit I had low expectations after reading this site) and wasn't going to upgrade or even worry about aftermarket, until I "felt" the 1000 playing "Heartbreaker" by Zeppelin.
EDIT: I went back to the website, and it's not as confusing as I thought. Maybe it's just me. But I'm also the person who was able to get the website to give me the red interior upgrade, the sport upgrade, and the interior upgrade package and total all 3. So maybe I did have it telling me that it cost $1900 more than the 500.
