Default Shaker 500 ???????

What makes a Shaker 500 a Shaker 500? My friend has it, I dont. I looked under the package tray, both of us have the same pitiful 6X8 single cone speakers. Im replacing mine with Pioneer 6X8 3-ways that I had in my Focus. Im leaving the fronts until I have another reason to pull the front door panel.

So does the Shaker 500 have a seperate amp, or is everything in the HU? The Mach 460 had upgraded rear speakers and a couple amps back there.

I'm pricing out an 05 wondering about the Shaker 500 too. How does it sound? Should I not get the Shaker and piece together something aftermarket?

the 500 is fine for me. I'm not an audio guy, but they sound good to me.

The shaker 500 is standard in it. The upgrade is the shaker 1000. You get one or the other in the 05'. The shaker 500 is an upgrade from the mach 460.

I got the 500 in mine but wish I got the 1000!

The standard has a single cd player with 4 speakers.

The 500 has a 6 disc in dash, capable of playing MP3s. 8 speakers, and 500 watts of power.

The 1000 has every thing the 500 has plus 2 extra speakers, and 500 additional watts of power.

before you get the 1000 listen to it. it sounds like ****. for the money you pay to upgrade you would be wise to get aftermarket. that is what i am doing. i think the 500 sounds way better then the 1000

Seriously, when you add $1200+ to the price, they better not be giving me the same exact mid/tweeter speakers as in the $665 system. THAT IS TOTAL BS! No wonder you think the 1000 sounds worse.

Basically only adding subs gives you an un-equalized sound:

So what's the best thing to do, get the 500 and upgrade the speakers? And how is it 8 speakers when I only see 4 speaker grills -- don't tell me they are counting 2-way speakers at 2 separate speakers... anyone have a link to the Shaker specs?

The shaker 1000 sounds incredible. Not sure what they are listening to that makes them say otherwise. I do admit there are alot of new music cds that sound like s#$% but that is the recording itself! Want proof? put in the new best of B-52s cd, its mixed perfect, and kicks *** all over the linkun park meteora or whatever it is my kids like, It is recorded to sound good on a boom box. try a few cds for yourself, then decide
