I did my first oil change at 800 miles the get the breakin crud out. I know, the filter traps most of the filings, but what about the smaller pieces than are an abrasive that go through the filter? Change it NOW! Stick with the Ford Blend oil for another change or 2, then go full synthetic.

There's a lot of great info on oil here if you use the search feature. This topic has been discussed in depth... over and over and over and...

The '07 GT's came from the factory with synthetic blend 5W20. I've been using full synthetics in all of my vehicles for about the last 8 years and I did my first oil change on the Stang with full synthetic at 3500 miles. I was involved a few years ago with people that taught an oil analysis program and I personally feel comfortable going 10,000 miles on the synthetic that I'm using and, depending on the brand of filter, changingthe filter at 5,000 0r 10,000 miles. I put a lot of mileage on my Stang so I never get to 6 months before an oil/filter change.

If you're having the dealer do it and they're using the blend, thenI'd say 5,000 miles or 6 months is fine. A lot of forum members prefer to change theirs more frequently. If you do short trips (less than 10 miles), then you may want to do it more frequently.

haha come on now, with the new 08's we're sure to have these crop up quite often for the next couple months, lets try and be civil...

use the motorcraft 5w-20 semi-syn

change it now, if the dealer is doing it, they will use the above (hopefully, check them)

if you want you can change to full synthetic, in your case I would wait until your next oil change, or around 5,000 miles

HTH

2008 Factory recommended intervals are 3000 mi Severe Duty and 7500 mi Normal.

I feel pretty comfortable for most people with the Motorcraft Blend 5W-20 at 5000 mi OCI.
I have yet to see an Used Oil Analysis that shows that lube to be overextended at that mileage.

How often you change the oil and what you use is kind of like politics.
People know what they want to believe an dont like being confused by facts.

In politics, the facts have yet to be written. Takes at least 100 years to get it all sorted out.
