Default Scuff Plate Removal

So I know the scuff plates (door sills) have push pin type fasteners along the carpet line, but it feels as though the plate may also be 3Med along the door sill on the metal area....Anyone that has removed them, is that the case? Any issue with bending the scuff plate during removal? Did you apply new 3M upon re-install??

Thx,
Mike

I've removed mine before, just pull firmly straight up. I can get pics for you if you need them......

LOL...Yeah, I think I coulda gotten em loose, but just don't want to bend em, and still curious if it's 3M under the outside area, or what....If you have pics, that would be most appreciated.....I've had them loose on several occasions, just never completely removed them....

Thx,
Mike

Hope this helps . . . this is no adhesive... put fingers between carpet and plastic, pull up till loose. then pull the ends straight up, one at a time...

ditto to brendend. I had to remove mine when installing my flush mount louvers. there were two strips of 3m in addition to the push pin type fasteners. i did not replace the 3m. I tested for tackiness and there was some so I just reused.

Thanks Guys....and thanks for the pics....

Perhaps a thin blade putty knife to help the adhesive let go...There is definately some sort of adhesive on mine. Just don't want to bend the aluminum nameplate.....

Thanks again,
Mike

How about a little heat with a hairdrier/heatgun?

Well I ended up just using a plastic putty knife under the scuff plate. There were in fact two beads of adhesive tape on the outer-most ridges. They did not seem to still be very tacky, so I just re-applied a new strip of 3M...Seems to be ok.....

I pulled the scuff plates off to apply the black lettering. Turned out pretty good, but I do think the letters were undercut a bit....Oh well, good enough for now.....
