Default The aftermarket isnt very smart

Ford is selling more Mustangs this year than they have sold for a long time, most of them V6's like mine. Everyone with 05's are screaming for performance and appearence parts. The aftermarket is dragging thier feet, or they drop some poorly designed crap on us at highly inflated prices.

My first two performance upgrades will be intake and exhaust. I havent seen anything worth spending my money on yet.

What are they waiting on?

Dude, the car has been out for like 6 months. Chill out. Don't expect many upgrades to be available for the v6's.

He's right you need to have some patience. Research and development takes time if you want a decent product. Ford has been working on this Mustang since 2001. This is an entirely new car. The only carry over parts are the short block (block, crank & rods) for the 4.6. There are also a lot of new parts on the V6 so the aftermarket needs time to properly research and test before they release product.
I have been in the consumer business for years and I have seen far too many bad products that didn't work properly because they were rushed through and not tested properly. You should be thankfull they are taking thier time. In the meantime just enjoy your car.

yeah, it's only been 6 months. but look, they got a GT in the 11s already! i'd say the aftermarket on 05s is coming along nicely.

yep, 6 months - the car is still an infant! Chill for about a year. Then sell your V-6 and get a V-8. Why do people buy a V-6 then bitch about the fact that their car is slow and they need mods. Dump the 6. V-8 = performance. V-6 = fuel economy [&:]

I agree with this king, the market is slacking on the '05 Mustang. Perhaps not as much on the V8 as the V6. Take the 350Z for example: A Z car had not been produced for ~8 years, before the car was even sold to the general public there was already aftermarket parts available for the car to purchase. Yes you could buy your intake for a 350Z before you could buy the 350Z you could buy a supercharger for the 350Z before you could buy the 350Z. This is because Nissan made Z's available to the aftermarket parts providers in advance so that they would have a jump start on R&D. There is hardly anything available for the V6 because all markets are focusing on the V8 but what they need to consider is the reasons that a V6 owner would be interested in modifying their car. A V6 is a cheaper car and a lot of people buy V6's because they are cheaper and that would give them more money to modify the vehicle. I would be willing to bet that a V6 supercharger would sell as good or damn close to as good as a V8 supercharger would, but it will be quite some time till a V6 has that aftermarket available to it- If it ever does.

The ratio of V6s to V8s is about 3 to 1. There will be many more people modding the V6 cars than the V8 cars. Anyone can buy a V8 and stick thier foot in the gas. I like to mod the 6. Ive had several 200 and 250 sixes that would give a 5.0 a run for the money, at least for the first 1/8 mile or so. My wife wants a 04 V6 Stang, so later this year or early next year we will sell the Taurus and add a second 6 to the stable.

So my money spends like anyone elses, if the aftermarket wants it they had better get off thier a$$ and get busy.

Ive already bought 3.73s and a T-Lok for my 05, just need to get them put in. A chip will be next to fix the speedo.

Im waiting for a quality intake and a dual catback. I use GT take-offs when possible, I like to improve performance but keep a "factory" look to my mods.
