Default Adding Factory Sirius

Due to circumstances beyond my control I will be losing my 2008 Mustang V6 Premium vert this weekend. [sm=smiley19.gif] I'll post details in another thread.

Anyway, Iplan on replacing it witha new 2008 Mustang GTPremium vert. [sm=smiley20.gif]

I love the factory Sirius in myV6 but the GT I'm looking at doesn't have it. Does anyone knowwhat pieces I need to add to the Shaker 1000 unit to add factory Sirius? I know there is a box in the trunk and the antenna. Any harness required? Can anyoneprovide part numbers for all the required parts? Lastly, does anyone want to get rid of their Sirius? If so send me a PM.

Thanks,

Martin

Do us all one favor, if/when you install it, please don't put that Homo antenna on the trunk deck, hide it inside the rear window or somewhere equally subtle

+1. I don't know where that would be though. Maybe up high on the rear glass. No where outside is good.

Move it inside. I heard that folk have actually moved it inside the trunk without loss of signal although I think that's a stretch too far. Inside the rear/front screen is perfectly fine.

I bought a factory kit for my 07 GT vert and installed it myself. It consists of the receiver that mounts in the trunk, harnesses, and magnetic trunk mount antenna. Its available from SLP Electronics at: http://www.oem-auto-accessory.com/vi...button__1.html

One caution - the kit came with a receiver that was very difficult to mount due to it's size/shape and the bracket arrangement. I finally figured it out, but the installation was a bit of a kluge. Turned out that the unit failed in less than a week, and they replaced it with a smaller unit that mounted very easily. SLP Electronics is easy to work with, and I've had no further problems.

question... for those of us with stock sirius and the ugly antenna on the trunk... is it drilled into the trunk or can i just peel it off and install it inside?

Your decklid is drilled and the antenna is bolted on.

If you want to save a few $$$ over new, I am getting rid of the factory Siriustuner and Shaker 500 head unit. I will see how difficult it is to pull the harness, but I imagine it would be plug-n-play with the Shaker 1000. Since the factory antenna is bolted on through a hole in the trunk, I am keeping that, and using an antenna extension to hook up to my Sportster 4. You would have to find another antenna (I mayhave an extra)or antenna extension. A word of caution about antenna placement: although the factory satallite antenna is ugly, it gets very good reception in it's location. I have temporarily placed a magnetic antenna under the rear glass while waiting for my extension, and in my case, reception has been less than stellar. Maybe it's because I tinted the window, or maybe it's because it's just sitting on carpet instead of stuck to the metal of the body, but my reception is poor.
