Thats a waste. Just get your auto tranny tuned and you will NEVER be able to manually shift it better than it can on its on. PERIOD.
actually in a corner that might be a different story.
You are correct, I was purely speaking of upshifting. The OP said nothing about autocross or anything so I doubt they need to worry about downshifting.

Thesemotors rev so quick , it is hard to shift them any quicker than they do by themselves.

Does anyone have any experience with the B & M Shifter or TIC shifter for the automatics? Does anyone know if they come with an OD on/off switch?

how much use are the gears manually after a gear install say, with 4:10s or 3:90s? i'd assume 1st is pretty much useless.

I would agree. Too much shifting with those gears. Might as well start out in 2.

Also i would like to metion about a week ago i came ontoa main road froma stop sign , put it first but didnt take the over drive off went threw 1st,2nd,3rd,then D all the sudden my check engine light cameon [:-][:-][:-]now i properly shifted the gears by tac and hearing of the engine.I took it to the dealership just saying my check engine light came on while i was driving froma stop sign (i didnt say what i was doing) so they check and they saw no code's or memory of the light coming on?? he said maybe it was a glitch? i was like okay and went home since then i havent done it im alittle nervous and opinons?

The OD is just another gear. 5th if I can count my fingers right. By locking it out, you will just stay in Drive or 4th. OD is for high speed highway driving although mine will go into OD in town if I am lollygaging around so it will save gas.

Well while we're on this subject...
I'm going to start autocrossing in March when it starts back here.
I was wondering if I sould launch in 1st then shift into 2nd and leave it in 2nd the whole time?
Or should I just leave it in D? Mine is tuned.

Sounds like you haven't autocrossed much. For the first few runs, I suggest just putting it in '2' and leaving it alone. You'll be busy enough following the course and cranking on the steering wheel to want to bother with anything else. Us manual tranny guys normally make one upshift and forget about it (but have to decide whether to upshift early before the first turn or hold it into the next "straight".
