We tried shooting them with pellet guns, but there were too many. Then we tried trapping them and releasing them miles away, but that didnt work.
LOL, first you tried killing them, and then you tried just trapping them and letting them free? Wouldn't it have been way easier to just kill them after having trapped them? Fish in a barrel, so to speak?
We were doing that for a while too, but we just couldnt kill them all. We trapped and killed one per day for 2 weeks and it brought the number of squirrels outside from like 10 to 7 even though we had killed 14. I guess as soon as some would die, others would come in and take their spot. I'll take a look in the garage when I get home from class this evening and try to find some of that pepper repellant spray.

Never saw a cat take down a squirrel. I have seen our dog bring it a baby deer and it was still alive.

Try selling them life insurance. If that doesn't work trying telling them how you've been saved by the Lord and ask if they want to be as well.

That should get rid of 'em.

My brother had an attack cat once. Coal black and about as big as a coon. You didn't want to leave your feet hanging out from the covers at night. Sucka went ballistic. He also went missing. Hmmmmmm????

Well the way I see it you can do 3 things, 1 of which you have already ruled out. 1st- you can take a .22 and shoot them or pellet gun but will need one with some oph! to kill them but it will be quieter. 2nd- you can buy a trap, either from an outdoor store or catch them on sale at Tractor Supply or some place like that, they also have a some great traps at Cabelas but a trap inst going to be cheap prob. the cheapest at TS but you can use them again and again cause they will last forever. 3rd- get a cat, make sure you get a kitten and raise it if you are going to keep after its done its job and continues to do its job, you could borrow one if that makes any sense and yes any cat even a kitten will scare off squirrels and if they are good hunters they will be able to keep rodents out of your house and they can kill squirrels...etc. etc.

Here is one link to the Cabelas Page of traps
