I'm doing these in Vista Blue to match my car:

But if I had a Bullit (or any other limited edition car for that matter) I wouldn't change a thing about it. JMO.

I just spoke to the owner of the paint shop i go to about painting my mirrors and he said that with the proper prep, they can be painted but will be extremely sensitive to rock damage. If they get a chip or anything the paint will come of in big chunks.
It was something about how the textured black plastic doesn't release all the chemicals and when it is baked after painting, it doesn't stick to the primer well. Hence it will look good but if it gets a chip, the paint will come off easily.

Yes, bullits are cool, but I dont think theres any denying how badly the mirrors ruin the S197, no matter what edition.... i say paint them.

These cover the entire mirror. Just not the wing it's attached to.

had my '05 painted a few months ago at the dealer. $120, perfect job. there aren't many aftermarket options available anyways, and the only cool ones Ive seen (which are like stock but have a turn signal) arent available painted anyways.
There are covers but no covers cover the entire mirror.

That's b.s if you wet sand the mirror's with 600 wet sand paper, sand all the texture smooth then prime with a good automotive primer sand the primer with 600 then paint and clear it will be as durable as the rest of your car.

Correct. They just don't want to be bothered. Start sanding with 60, then 80 then 100 dry, then 220, 320, 400 wet. adhesion promoter, primer base and clear. Remember to sand starting with the 220 on the inside around the glass as you press it inward. You should use a rag to fill gap in the door when removing the 3 nuts, and mask off the glass before you begin sanding. Little road debris ever gets up to hit mirrors anyway and yes they will "be as durable as the rest of your car." Also I see no reason to bake them and there is no advantage to doing so except "time". Don't worry about doing the Bullit ones (it will look great), the same exact ones are showing up in junk yards already. ...grab a pair if it makes you feel better.

For the record, he hasn't seen my mirrors, I just described them as textured flat black plastic.
