Interesting about the extra bracket, I bought mine about a year ago and it didn't come with one.
The directions mention the bracket as an optional piece. It was in my package so I installed it. I like the fact that it secures the air box to the body but it's a pain. I think that could have fabricated some bracket to re-use the stock mounting hole.

jlaurens06gt - thanks for the tips.

I wish I had known about Brenspeed awhile ago. I have the Steeda CAI, but Steeda's tune. I would much rather have the Brenspeed tune.

I think Brenspeed will sell you just the tune, and you can download it from your computer to the SCT with an A/B USB printer cable.

My heat shield has two stubs at the bottom that line up with the factory airbox mounting holes. You mean that you don't have those? That would explain why you need the bracket then. Not sure why they changed the design, to save money during the manufacturing process maybe.

And interesting about the various thoughts on the various octanes. I can't say I've even tried anything but the 93.

My kit has the two rubber stubs as well that allow the unit to seat in the holes. The only thing securing the box is the elbow at that point. The bracket is in addition to that for securing to the ABS box in front of the air box.

I prefer the 89 since it seems to pull harder in the lower RPM range
This is interesting.

My buddy (Rford426) has the Steeda CAI as well, he loves it... I drove his car and really noticed a difference too.
