Default removing spoiler

This might be a dumb question, but i want to remove my stock spoiler for a bit, just for the hell of it. Anyway, i un-bolted all 4 screws. Then i tried to just pull the spoiler off... didnt work. Im guessing theres some kind of tape there? Anyway, whats the easiest way to remove the spoiler.. keep in mind i will put it back on. Thanks.

A hair dryer and dental floss or a fine monofilament fishing lineworks wonders on two sided tape. Just don't over heat and take your time. Clean-up any remaining residue with Goo Gone or something similar.

Default RE: removing spoiler

When I swapped a black spoiler onto mine I tried the fishing line thing but it was too hard.

What I did was take an old 6" long metal ruler and sharpen one of the ends on a bench grinder and a sharpening stone till it was pretty sharp.
Then I pulled up on the spoiler which stretches the tape quite a bit. The ruler fit right in there and split the
tape in half. So I ended up with half the tape on the spoiler and half of it on the trunk lid.
The ruler never touched the paint so of course it didn't scratch anything...

The tape is sticky on the inside too so it was still good. I just bolted the new (takeoff) spoiler on.
No problems. No water leaks...

Why didn't you just use an old butcher knife?

I put 2 inch tape around the spoilerpedestals, so nothing get scratched, and Isneak a putty knife under to loosen the tape.
When it's off, the Goo Off and product alike will finish the job.
Since you gonna put it back on, I'd leave the left over tape for waterproofing.

Dont you have to buy some kind of plugs to cover up the holes if you keep the spoileroff?

Why they don't use a gasket instead of this stupid tape is beyond me.[&:]

Yes. You can buy them from any hardware store. Its just a temporary solution.
