Default Engine light.

I have a 2006 V6 with 14,000 miles. Today the engine light came on and it won't rev to max. This is crazy. I've had my Toyota MR2 for 9 years and never had an engine problem besides a minor oil leak. I have a Ford for less than 6 months and now this already? I hope it's something minor. Any suggestions?

An 06 with 14K miles would still be under warranty so I'd just take it to a dealer for something like a check engine light. The code reader probably wouldn't be worth it in this case.

Oh ok. I guess I'll have to look into getting one tomorrow if it's something I have to buy. I feel like a cluless idiot. I am actually. Thanks for the help.

Edit: Or I'll try the dealer. Thanks.

You can't blame Ford until you rule out user error.

User error? It's a car. Don't get me wrong, I really like the car, but I haven't had any user error with any of my other vehicles ever. Why now with my first Ford?

go to Autozone....they will pull the trouble codes for you for free and print them ona receipt. get online and search the web/this forumfor what the codes mean. then, you can ask here for opinioins on what caused them......

or just go to the dealer

Hit up the dealer first man, This way it is covered under warranty. Not only that sometimes autozone clears the codes, then the dealer cannot find the issue through their computer.
