Default RE: Engine light.

Just wanted to update anyone who was interested in my problem. I went to Auto Zone today and found out that the error code is P0456. It could be a faulty gas cap or a busted hose. So much for user error (can I blame Ford now?). They say it'll take three drive cycles for the engine light to turn off. I don't know how long a drive cycle is, but I'll try it out. But the car still won't rev above 4x RPMs. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come down the road. Don't mind my bitterness, this is just a part of life right? The car is awesome otherwise. In the meantime, I'll just be driving my 16 year old Toyota. Again, thanks to those who tried to help.

Wait... why didn't you just take it to the dealership to get it fixed under warranty? Maybe I misunderstood something but it doesnt sound like a faulty gas cap if your car wont rev over 4000 RPMs. Def get it fixed man.

I got that same code, but no 4k rev problem. I was told to go through 3 tanks of gas and see if the light stayed on. It did. I reloaded my tune and it went away.[:-]

Hate to break it to you buddy but even toyotas have check engine lights. By the way, the Mustang won the best quality award for its sports car class, meaning it had the least amount of problems per thousand vehicles than any other sports car.

You're just unlucky, that's all.

your car is in what is called limp mode. IT wont let the car rev above a certain limit so you wont damage the car. first check to make sure you MAF sensor is not blocked or disconnected and like everyone said bring it to a dealer

Its a no-brainer dude. They fix it free. EVERY car can have issues, even Toyotas. So dont lose any sleep over it.
