Rear Black Out Panel
ORIGINAL: Professor Wizard
I want something different.
I am building a unit of black "louvers" which will span the space in between the Tail Lights with the depth to match the protrusion of the Tail Light Assemblies. THEN I will match the "line" of the louvers with 1/32nd black pin stripe on the Tail Light Bezels to continue the “look” to the edge of the lights.
This should give an appearance similar to the rear of Lamborghini or Ferrari GT Class Café’ Racer.
Of course, I’ll post pics when the project is complete!
Hmmm.. I wonder if there would be a market for a rear louver assembly!

I guess none of you read where people have said that having that panel has traped water behind it and others have said it has messed up their paint. I have a black out panel on mine but it is made out of the striping vinyl material and it looks great, more like the real 68's did and it is a dull black not shiny. I am also havng the lights blacked out with film and not some plastic that has to be held on with velcro or double sided tape and that can also be stolen unless you remove and install them everytime you go somewhere. And it cost less.
Dow W..
Naaaa.. more like this... but not black in the background, but let my red show through...

That's funny, I was thinkinig of doing the same thing with my Torch red when I get it. Black out panel, black spoiler, balck chin spoiler, 69 hood scoop and black hood with hood pins. I was going to use the paint schemes from a 69 Mach 1.
I'm posting some pictures of a 69 and 70 mach 1 and an 05 torch red with blackout panels.
