PUTTERING OUT AT 5000RPMS
WANT TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS AN ANSWER TO THIS. I AM GOING TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP WERE I GOT IT TUNED AND SEE WHAT IS UP.
WHEN I AM COMING UP IN FIRST AND STOMPING ON IT, AROUND THE 5000 RANGE, THE CAR, I GUESS FEELS LIKE ITS PUTTERING, WANTING TO BACK FIRE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT I HAVE LOST THE PICK UP THAT I HAD AFTER I GOT IT TUNED. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 2 MONTHS SINCE I GOT THE TUNE. I AM RUNNING THE 91 TUNE, BUT USE THE 89 OCTANE, SINCE THERE ISNT 91 AROUND SA. ANYONE HAVE IDEAS THAT THEY COULD SHARE WITH ME, BEFORE I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP.
THANKS

Running a 91 tune with 89 gas is a VERY bad idea... you can seriously damage your engine. What is happening is, there is too much advance in your ignition for the fuel that you are running, so it is likely detonating. This will cause damage to your valves, which (in a worst case) can break and drop into your combustion chamber -- which means engine rebuild time.
Reload with an 89 tune if only 89 gas is available. Never run the 91 tune with 89 gas.

If 89 octane is all you can get then use a 89 octane tune (unless you are at high altitude).
Check and make sure you dont have the out of gear limit set at 5000 rpm.
In these cars the SCT programs it will limit in gear rpm as well.
You have to rewire a switch on the clutch to get it to function correctly.

You wont notice a decrease in performance at all if you switch to an 89 tune from a 91 tune. Trust me. So do it. Running a lower octane than the engine is timed for is very very bad. You're making me cringe.
