Emergency !!!
I was driving home and my battery light came on (this is not the 1st time). I bearly made it in the driveway before it started puttering and finally just shut off.
During all this lights were dimming, radio cut off.
I later jumped it and as soon as I took the cables off,(after they were on there for 10-15 minutes) it started puttering and shut off again
What is going on?
I replaced the battery and alternator late 2007.

Heres a trick that I used to do to check alternators with old mopars or classic fords. Get the car started, remove the negative and positive cabe, it will still run without being connected to the battery. You can actually just jump the cables itself. If it dies, your alternator is hosed. All you are doing is bypassing the battery. GL

but yeah, 100 bucks says it is the alternator. unfortunately, id doesnt matter if the alternator is new or not...ive seen soooo many crap alternators, its ridiculous. youll have everything wired perfectly, and a remanufactured alt. from a part store will sometimes last, i dunno, a couple of months?id get a hi-amp alternator if you have to replace one. they arent that much, if any, more than an oem style one, and itll give you more peace of mind:

hope that is helpful.

P.S. i know know about the trick but, i couldnt do it cause the car wont say on long enough for me to take of the battery
thanks for all the input
i'll let u all know how it goes 2morrow

The things you learn when you are in a bad way!!P.S So if you get your battery stolen, just jump the cables, and crawl the stang or whatever you drive home or to the nearest auto parts store! When it comes to alternators, I wouldn't buy a rebuilt one, get one with a lifetime warranty and save the receipt. It's worth the extra cash to know you're covered.
