Anti-theft system help
I have a 2005 Mustang GT. Last night I parked my car, and it completely shut down. The Anti-theft system light started blinking on the instrument cluster. I tried the fuel line reset, disconnecting the battery, using the key to lock and unlock the door, nothing worked. I tried Ford Roadside Assistance, but I was left on hold for over two and a half hours. Being that it was about 11:00 pm in downtown Atlanta, I was running out of options sowe paid a couple of guys to push us so I could clutch start it. I made it home and the car seemed fine, but when I turned it off the light started blinking again, and the car is again dead. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Any ideas would really help. I don't want to spend a bunch of money for what could be an easy fix. I love my car, but Ford doesn't deserve any more of my money since they have been so unresponsive. I even let them know that I was in a dangerous situation, which I was, and I still had to pay two homeless guys, who I might add expected nothing for their help, to bail me out.
Thanks for responding Hammer. Outside of a Borla catback exhaust, which I've had since 2005, it is completely stock. I don't want to give Ford another frickin dime after their lack of concern and service.
You know what man, this sounds like the notorious dead battery problem. I have a GT with the anti-theft system and my battery went on me like that too with the light still blinking.
When you try to start, it just cranks but doesn't start up right? If your car is still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty you can get that replaced.
Check your radio presets, if they aren't there it's def. the battery.

yeah thrasher, Qusus may be on to something...
the fact that it started by push starting, tells us
the PCM was not in lock down mode....
the alternator may be putting out a less than
expected voltage and/or the battery may be
in need of replacing

Sounds like a dead battery. My battery died (the alarm system is always on) and when I tried to start it, it made lots of funny noises including from the CD player. I jumped it and it started right up. I now have a new Optima jell cell.
