RE: Changed my fuel filter, and WOW!!!
When I blew through my old one, it was as open and clear as if I was blowing through a garden hose. I even kept it for an emergency replacement. Shell gas FTW!

On my '91 T-Bird , There was a switch located in the trunk to shut off the fuel pump. I started the car up and it idled for a couple minutes until all the fuel pressure was gone and the car shut off. That made it easy to change out the fuel filter on it.

Just swapped mine 15 minutes ago after reading this thread, picked up at fuel filter for 12 bucks swapped in 25 minutes. Lots of Gas did spray everywhere.

Mine was under a little pressure sure, but after I pulled the fuse and turned the engine over a few seconds, I'm sure that helped.

I think what did me in was I moved it off a little bit to try and let that drain out instead of pulling it all off at once. I've pulled the fuel line off my pumps tons of times never sprayed out that bad. I should have pulled it off and stuck it in a bucket or something. Next time will be easier

Seriously, though, this is an EASY thing to do if you haven't ever changed it out. Hardest part is getting the little plastic "rivets" (for lack of a better word) out of the plastic cover. Once you get those off, though, it's easy to get in and change the filter.
Next easy thing to do is change out your cabin air filter...The one that filters outside air from coming into the cabin and getting all sorts of particles inside. (If there's any of you that live in So Cal, you might need to change this after the fires from October - mine was dark grey from all of the soot & dust that had come through)
