Default Painting grill black

so when the weather gets better i would like to paint my grill black. its the stock v6 grill. is this a good idea? what kind of paint do i need? would i do flat black or gloss black and would i need to sand or anything.

Any paint on the OE plastic grill will get chipped quickly from road debrisand look horrible.

not exactly true, the guy who owns the shop i go to has a red roush and he painted his grill to match his car and it looks realy really good and hes had it for a pretty long while and has no chips in it so far.
