I would go with the rubber still. If it hits something, it will flex whereas the metal will not. If worse comes to worse, the metal could rip at the bottom if you run it into anything.
How in the world are you going to run a shorty antenna into something? ... and not be hitting your car? Seriously though, do whatever you want but the rubber ones bend to the rear of the vehicle because of wind, etc and look like crap.
I had a rubber antennae for 3 days..drove on the highway and it bent and started to show a permanent slight bend.I quickly returned it and bought a metal one..get the metal one IMO
I just got a metal 14" shorty, definitely better than a rubber one because you don't have to worry about it bending and it just looks better in my opinion.
