Default Pondering getting rid of the Hurst

and going back to stock.

My car came with it, and honestly Im not liking the feel as much anymore. As well as the look. I think the stock setup looks classy, but thats just me. Anyways, opinions aside. How hard is it to revert back to stock, and how much will the notchy feeling go away?

It won't be hard to go back to stock, but the notchy feeling will go away -- that is what the Hurst is all about..the notchyness lol. Have you never just drove an S197 with the stock shifter?

Actually I havent, so I guess im kinda spoiled. How are the throws in relation to the Hurst? I dont trust the hype. Im thinking about ordering the stock shifter and shift **** from ebay (Brenspeed).

You should go to a dealership and find a 5-speed with the stock shifter and test drive it before you do this so you get the feel of it.

The throws are quite a bit longer. The Hurst is about 40% shorter than stock. The stick on the stock shifter is a lot lower. And there will be no positive feedback when you shift. It'll be very mushy. I guess give it a try. Worst thing that happens is you throw the Hurst back in.

+1 That would be the easiest route to go.

Definitely go and test drive one before you do it, its not just the long mushy throws that i dont like about stock, its also the position that the shifter is in when in 1-3-5, if puts your hand almost into the radio controls, way to far forward for my liking.

My advice: Dont go to stock. Im the kind of guy who thinks this car is great in stock form and few things should be modified. But the stock shifter is indescribably slushy with a huge throw. It throws the whole car's performance off....

If you dont like the hurst its understandable, but you may want to look at other options rather than stock. Maybe the stock setup with the steeda short-stick installed, or stock + saleen short throw bushings, I dont know but trust me you'll be upset with stock....

I'd recommend getting the Steeda sport shifter if you want a stock-type shifter but with shorter throws. The guys at Brenspeed told me that a while back.
